Process: wood and finishing

Quick notes on choosing wood, grain direction and finishing.

Choosing wood directly affects the engraving result:

  1. Good-quality plywood helps produce clean cuts.
  2. Fine-grained woods work better for detailed engraving.
  3. An oil finish brings out contrast without oversaturating it.

Tip: always test on a sample before committing to the final piece.
